ZeroOut

Slide numbered boxes across a chessboard. When two meet they merge and add up, and any zeros at the end drop off. Merge them all into one box in as few moves as you can.

A small number puzzle on a chessboard. Each box holds a number from 1 to 99, and none of them ends in zero. Boxes move like a rook in chess. Slide one into another and they merge into one box holding their sum. If the sum ends in 0, the zeros drop off: 23 + 37 = 60 becomes 6, and 55 + 45 = 100 becomes 1.

Tap a box to see where it can go, then tap a marked square or another box. You can also swipe a box, or focus it and press an arrow key, to slide it as far as it goes. Double-tap a box, or press S, to break it in half, which is handy for making a pair that ends in zero. Merge everything into one box in as few moves as you can. Undo is always there.

Every merge takes one move, so a board of 12 boxes needs at least 11. Moves spent lining boxes up are the ones to save. Dropping zeros keeps the numbers small, so aim for sums that end in 0. Boxes whose last digits make 10 share a color, which helps you spot pairs. Levels are the same every time, so your best score per level is saved in your browser.
